- Apply first-principles thinking.
- Most constraints are self-imposed.
- You can do anything.
- If a business metric has quickly increased or decreased, a lot of the time something is broken.
- Given a high enough volume of users, whatever can happen will happen. From Uber: “The one-in-a-million event occurs multiple times a day on Uber.”
- Hire really smart people, give them a lot of autonomy, but provide guidance and support.
- Get revenue before you even have a product.
- There are no silver bullets. It’s a long slog of small improvements that compound.
